After many hours of working trying to get this to work Ive yet to be impressed. I really love the whole idea behind GameCreat But Yet the support for Linux is lacking.
I have been running game servers since the Quake2 days and alway in linux so Linux isnt a new thing.
Hopefully one day Gamecreate will get these issues resolved so that it can work the way it is meant to.
Or before someone comes out with one that does and steals the markey away.
I will try back in say 6 months and see if the progress is any better. Thanks for all of your hard work tyring to bring this to us. |

I don't understand your grievances. We've been
running almost exclusively Linux servers with GC,
and have yet to encounter any problems that
Andrew wasn't able to help us resolve. I am sure
if you post your problem to this forum, someone
will try to help you |

Oh please dont get me wrong I wasnt trying to complain. If it came across that way I am sorry. Like I said the concept I love but I installed it and tried some of the most popular games and had nothing but problems.
UT2004 wouldnt stay up it just kept restarting and restarting like every 3 min's
ET well I couldnt even get it to run.
HL2 wouldnt shut down.
SOF2 wouldnt install and I couldnt get a already working install to work with GC
Quake2 wouldnt install. They didnt have a linux copy for it.
But again like I said its a sound concept but I spent 3 days trying to make this work and I already had the servers up and running prior to GC but couldnt get any running right with GC.
At this time I wasted alot of time for nothing.
But again I will check back after a while to see how it works. |

Servers are restarted if they cannot be queried - GameCreate thinks they are offline because they cant be queried, so a restart is issued.
I agree we do have better native support for windows at this time (because the majority of our stuff runs on windows with a few exceptions).
We do use Linux ourselves for a few servers (Ventrilo mostly). |
