I assume you're talking about cod4 or codwaw.
The best bet is to use the rotating log system, which will start a new game_mp.log file each time the server starts.
Also having your server automatically restart at 5am will keep log file sizes down, and be more reliable. |

Yes she is talking about COD 4 and COD 5....
The only problem is we want to be able to have our Admins
take the log files off our box to go through them, so we would prefer
not to delete them till we have removed them from our box...
Right now to do this we must shut the server down then
pull the logs down through FTP....
It's do able but more of a inconvenience as most times
the servers are full....
this the error we get
550 can't access file. : /GameCreate/callofduty4/configs/customranked/mods/customranked/games_mp.log
Thanks

Are you able to manually copy and paste that file from the game server itself (while the server is running), or do you also experience an error? |

Yes I can manually, copy the files to another location
on the server and then our guys pick them up from
there. But then I have to shut down the servers to delete
the log files, or I am the one that has to copy them over to a new
location as we do not give everyone remote access to the box.
I mean if this is how we have to do it thats fine we will make
it work was just wondering there was a easier way so our guys
and grab the fiels anytime they need them....
Thanks

Hang on a sec, please do this and reply back with how you go:
With the game server running, try the following:
1) Download the log file via FTP
2) Copy the file via the server desktop
3) Delete the log file via FTP
4) Delete the log file via the server desktop
Thanks |

Ok thanks.
#1 Seems strange, does the GameCreate Client have access to open that file?
The file is only opened in read-only mode and so any writes should be OK.
For #4 however, it sounds like you may just have prevented delete permission for FTP for that file, as it should be delete-able if Windows can do it too. |
