Hi

I have just installed a fear server, and i want to find out how come when i start the dedicated server from the cmd it starts but when i start it from GC it does not?

Post the command line that GC is giving you for us, and also the output of the GC console when you try to start the server so we can take a look.

FEARServer.exe -optionsfile D:\GameCreate\fear/port27888.txt -userdirectory D:\GameCreate\fear/configs/port27888

In the console window it just says "initializing the server."

Where as if use the exact same line of code in cmd it starts the server fine.

So what is the exact output of the GameCreate console when you try to start up the server.

There are no errors on the GC console, the Fear console opens but it just does not populate the config.

I don't expect there will be errors reported in the GC console.

I'd still like to see exactly what it says from the time you hit the start button for the server.

Are you trying to load any non standard maps, or anything else that may be effecting the server's ability to initialise?

What's your GameCreate domain, so we can take a closer look.

I was able to connect to your server ok.

Are you running the server manually or with GameCreate? Both of your FEAR servers appear to be up in GameCreate.

Hi the servers are started up manually.

From GC it starts the FEAR console on the server but for some reason it does not read the config file.

I used the exact same code that GC uses to start the server from the cmd prompt manualy and it started the server.

So using the command line from GC, does it also use the config file specified like it should, or does it just complete loading the server.

Me the same problem. In cmd the command line works fine.

Executing the standard command line in gamecreate.exe

FEARServer.exe -optionsfile C:\inetpub\GameCreate\GameCreate-12552\fear/port27888.txt -userdirectory C:\inetpub\GameCreate\GameCreate-12552\fear/configs/port27888

outputs error

ERROR: Unknown command: FEARSERVER.EXE

If you could tell me how the right command for starting the server locally is, i could post the right output.

well, the problem persists. any suggestions to this?
